Sapienza University of Rome
Patrizia Campolongo is an Associate Professor at Sapienza University of Rome. Her research sheds light on the fundamental mechanisms governing memory function, with a particular emphasis on elucidating the neurobiological underpinnings of both memory dysfunctions and exceptional memory abilities.
With a focus on the interplay between neurobiology and cognition, Prof. Campolongo has made significant contributions to the field, shedding light on how stress influences memory function.
She is currently investigating mechanisms of PTSD susceptibility and resilience to provide insights for personalized therapies. She is also investigating the neurobiological underpinnings of superior autobiographical memory in both a human unique population (HSAM) and in animal models. This approach allows for a translational perspective, bridging findings from animal studies with insights obtained from human research.
She is author of more than 100 papers, editor of 1 Elsevier book and 6 international book chapters in the field of memory function. She has delivered more than 50 invited lectures at national and international meetings and has been faculty member of several graduate schools.
